Safe Sleep Initiative

Massachusetts NICU Safe Sleep Practices Collaborative

The NeoQIC Safe Sleep Practices Improvement initiative was launched in 2015 with the goal of improving safe sleep practices for high risk infants in the neonatal intensive care units throughout the state.  The project aim is to increase the percentage of eligible infants engaging in safe sleep practices in Massachusetts NICUs to 90% by 2017.  The project is built around hospital-based improvement teams, and included twice-yearly statewide summits, regular webinars, and weekly crib audits to monitor practices and assess improvement.

Although the main project concluded in 2017, given the widespread interest in maintaining attention to this topic, we are continuing in 2018 in a sustainment mode, with ongoing data collection, progress reports, and webinars.  We are also planning a summit to bring teams together this fall.   Please see below to access the project webpage.
